The Practice…What does it mean when lawyers say they
“practice” law; often limiting that “practice” to one or two areas of the law? Shouldn’t they
know the law? Why do they need to practice?
The Law is actually a beautiful, ever changing system. The legislatures, at both the state and
federal levels, are always reviewing and changing our laws. Our Courts change our laws when they
sometimes make a decision not to follow a law because, for one reason or another, they feel a
certain set of facts do not fully fit into any written law. Sometimes, when this happens, a case
ends up being appealed; at times going through the State Appellate Courts then to the State Supreme
Court and, on occasion, all the way to the United States Supreme Court, where a law can actually be
changed or a new rule made as a result of their ruling. This process is inevitable because we
humans are transforming everyday – we’re growing and evolving and developing our societies as we
change.
In order to keep up in our ever-evolving society, attorneys have to practice their art everyday,
continually take more legal education courses, and most important of all, genuinely care. At our
firm, we all add to our knowledge every day and we pool our knowledge. All of our attorneys have
been practicing between fourteen (14) and thirty (30) years. We are extremely well-versed in all
the laws in our practice areas as well as many others and are integrated into all the courts in the
Chicagoland area, both state and federal. We are practiced in the Appellate and Supreme Courts both
state and federal; but most important, we have serviced and developed relationships with thousands
of Clients who have experienced, and have testified about our outstanding service and genuine
care.
Our firm’s practice is focused in four areas of law: Family Law, Criminal Law, Injury Law, and
Business Law. However, with our combined knowledge and past experiences we have been enormously
successful in handling many other matters for our clients.
